Brother Matthew Charnas has been a key figure among the membership at Alpha-Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma fraternity at The Ohio State University. Initiated in the 2004 Alpha Class of Alpha-Sigma chapter, Matt played pivotal roles in the newly chartered organization helping to bring new life to the fraternity.
Brother Charnas has held various influential positions as an undergraduate. He was the chapter’s Pledge Educator responsible for mentoring potential new members towards membership. Matt also held the VP role in IFC on-campus which provided influence from withing the Greek system.
Beyond his undergraduate years and after graduation, since 2007, he has been involved as an Alumni Advisor and Assistant Alumni Advisor to the Alpha-Sigma chapter. At one point, Brother Charnas lent his expertise to chapters in North Carolina, serving as Alumni Advisor and Assistant Alumni Advisor for two years.
Matt became District Grand Master (DGM) of Southern Ohio in 2013, a testament to the trust and respect his fellow brothers placed in him. In his new role, he was able to make significant contributions to the continued growth and success of Kappa Sigma in the region.
With his wealth of experience and dedication, Brother Charnas has been an invaluable asset in assisting several chapter recharterings as the DGM. Currently, he serves as Assistant District Grand Master, providing crucial support to District Grand Master, Brother Wes Bren, in Southern Ohio. He also is a member of the rechartering oversight group, helping with the membership development committee.
Brother Charnas is rising through the executive role at Scott's Corporation. He wisely accepted Scott's guidance and added to his education by pursuing an MBA from Ohio University online.
Furthermore, Brother Charnas's commitment to philanthropy and community engagement is commendable. He has been an active participant and fundraiser in the Columbus Ohio event known as PELETONIA, supporting vital cancer research and patient care initiatives.
